Inhalation Sedation

Inhalation sedation, commonly known as nitrous oxide sedation or “laughing gas,” is a widely used method in dentistry to help manage patient anxiety and discomfort. This technique involves the inhalation of a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a mask placed over the nose. The sedative properties of nitrous oxide create a calming effect, allowing patients to feel relaxed and less sensitive to pain during dental procedures.

One of the key advantages of inhalation sedation is its fast onset and rapid recovery. It also allows us to perform more complex treatments while maintaining patient comfort.

Patients typically begin to feel the effects within minutes, and once the gas is discontinued, they quickly return to their normal state, making it a safe option for those wishing to drive home.

Inhalation sedation is generally considered safe for most patients, including children. However, we will assess individual medical histories to identify any contraindications.
