Regenerative Endodontics
Regenerative endodontics (RE) is an exciting example of new developments in dentistry today. Endodontists are at the forefront of this cutting-edge technology. Endodontists’ knowledge in the fields of pulp biology, dental trauma, and tissue engineering is used to deliver biologically based endodontic treatment to immature permanent teeth. The result is continued root development, which allows the tooth to continue the maturation process, especially apical closure.
This new technology uses the concept of tissue engineering to restore the root canals to a healthy state, allowing for continued development of the root and surrounding tissue. RE includes stem cell therapy, growth factors, morphogens, tissue scaffolds and biologically active delivery systems.
